Founded in 2021, Asian Feminist Studio for Art and Research (AFSAR) addresses the urgent need for transnational discourse through reciprocal exchange between Asian and diasporic practitioners, generating an embodied archive from collective artistic research.
Through filmmaking, study groups and other activities, AFSAR takes “Asia” as a framework to explore issues impacting its localities and diaspora. AFSAR has recently participated in How to Hold Your Breath, Asia Art Biennial (2024); NEST: Network for Empowerment, Solidarity, and Transregionality with AWARE, Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2024); Squish! In the Forest, Insa Art Center, Seoul (2024); and Green Snake: women-centered ecologies, Tai Kwun Contemporary, Hong Kong (2023–2024).
