姚清妹
Yao Qingmei
1982 年生于浙江，现生活工作于温州和巴黎。2013 年毕业于法国阿尔松国立高等艺术学院，获得法国国家造型美术硕士学位。姚清妹的实践打破了表演与其场地之间的界限，她以身体为媒介在公共空间中实施干预，扰乱既定规则，探索象征性符号以及被符号哺育的身体如何在日常生活中获取或丧失权力。她的现场表演和与表演相关的多媒介实践通过挪用、错位和讽喻的手法提出了关于抵抗的多种不同形式，其架构杂糅了剧场布景、服装、文本、讲演、游戏、声音诗以及现代舞编舞。

Born in Zhejiang, 1982, Yao Qingmei currently lives and works in Wenzhou and Paris. In 2013, she graduated from École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Villa Arson Nice with DNSEP (Master) degree in Fine Arts. Yao’s artistic practice traverses the boundary between performance and its site, using body as a medium to intervene in public spaces and to disrupt the established rules, exploring the symbols of everyday life, and examining how bodies nurtured by these symbols gain or lose power. Her live performances and performance-related multi-media practices propose different forms of resistance through appropriation, dislocation and allegory, involving a mixture of scenography, costumes, texts, lectures, games, sound poetry, and contemporary choreography.

She also has exhibited and performed at institutions such as Whitechapel Gallery in London, Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, Haus der Kunst in Munich, Shanghai Biennale, Biennale of Jeune Création Européenne, UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing and Para Site in Hong Kong. Her works are part of public and private collections, including Fonds Municipal d’Art Contemporain de la Ville de Paris, Direction des Affaires Culturelles de la Ville de Marseille, Guangdong Museum of Art, Taikang Art Collection, Kadist Art Foundation and other institutions. In 2014, Yao won the Jury Special Award at the 59th Salon de Montrouge. In 2017, she won the inaugural Porsche “Young Chinese Artist of the Year” award in Shanghai. In 2018, she was selected and awarded the 68th “Jeune Création” Prize in Paris. In 2022, she received the Asian Cultural Council New York Fellowship and the AIC Individual Creation Fund from the Île-de-France region.
