张君 Zhang Jun

Zhang Jun was born in Guangzhou and is currently based in Paris, where she lives and works. She studied art history in France and researched Asian art exhibition history in Europe, focusing on the dynamics between artistic practice, cultural identity, and the dominant centers of contemporary art. She has worked with contemporary art institutions and galleries in Paris, while also engaging in small-scale, non-commercial, and slower-paced artistic practices.

The contexts in which she lives and works differ significantly from those of her upbringing. In her everyday life, she contends with gaps in language, culture, and institutional systems. From this position, she is concerned with ways of building lives and finding language in unfamiliar contexts, with particular attention to artistic practices grounded in cross-cultural and cross-linguistic experience.
